The second PIER Start-Up Workshop took place on 8 December 2017.

Under the title “Is it for you? Creating business ideas from research”, PhD students and postdocs from the PIER research fields were invited to take a closer look at the world of start-ups, innovation and business. Under the guidance of moderator Margarete Remmert-Rieper from TUTECH Innovation GmbH, the participants acquired basic expertise on innovation management and the business environment. Based on practical exercises, they learned to assess the marketability of their research and took first steps in preparing a business plan of their own.

The PIER Start-Up Workshop was part of PIER’s activities in the area of innovation. In the name of DESY and Universität Hamburg, PIER seeks to establish an innovation-friendly culture on the science campus in Hamburg Bahrenfeld and to foster an entrepreneurial spirit among its researchers. Further activities in this sphere will be announced soon. Please visit the PIER website for further information.
