The PIER Helmholtz Graduate School (PHGS) congratulates its member, Hendrik Schlicke, PhD student in the group of Prof. Horst Weller at the University of Hamburg, who participated as Young Scientist at the 67th meeting of Nobel laureates.

The meeting was held from June 25 till June 30 and was dedicated to the field of chemistry. 28 Nobel laureates encountered 420 junior scientists.

Once every year, about 30 Nobel laureates convene at Lindau to meet the next generation of leading scientists: 400-500 undergraduates, PhD students, and post-doc researchers from all over the world. The Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings foster the exchange among scientists of different generations, cultures, and disciplines.

The organizers of the Lindau meetings cooperate with more than 200 of the most renowned science and research institutions worldwide to identify the most qualified participants. Young scientists have to be nominated by these academic partners.

Hendrik Schlicke was encouraged to apply by his co-supervisor, who nominated him as a candidate. Prof. Dr. Peter Burger, the official contact person of the Lindau Meetings in the department of chemistry, selected Schlicke as one of the two official candidates for the University of Hamburg. Thus, he was able to take part in the further application process of the Lindau Meeting and was finally selected to travel to Lake Constance as Young Scientist.
