Thinking about your career after the PhD?

Three half-days of explorations and personal encounters with visits to leaders from different sectors of work in Hamburg will broaden your perspective – on what you have to offer and where you might go.

Throughout three half-day workshops, participants of the Navigator workshop will get the opportunity to think about their career trajectory after earning the PhD.

You will be encouraged to take a broad look at this upcoming transition.

Some of the guiding questions include:

+ What skill set do you bring to the table apart from specialized academic training?
+ What about your communication skills and your ability to network?
+ How comfortable are you negotiating diversity and conflict?
+ What exactly does it mean to be in a leadership position?
+ What overall values are important to you as you think about your future workplace?
+ What professional opportunities may you discover “off the beaten track”?

Day one, 14th Feb., 9:00 – 13:00, at GLS Bank:
How to become effective “out there”. Identify your professional opportunities, challenges and visions.

Day two, 15th Feb, 9:00 – 14:30, at different locations and CFEL:
Work as a team of consultants on a real-life business challenge being faced by a host organization from the private, public or nonprofit-sector. Make a genuine strategic contribution and receive feedback on your input. Hosts include: Asklepios Kliniken (private sector), Hamburger Hochbahn (public transport company), Loki-Schmidt-Stiftung (non-profit foundation), Hamburg Port Authority (public sector).

Day three, 19th Feb,  9:00 – 13:00, at GLS Bank:
Future Career Planning: Charting your professional journey. Reflect on your own network and identify areas of purposeful growth. Formulate concrete steps for your next stage of career planning.
