From Science to Headlines

16 - 18 February 2017, Timmendorfer Strand

"From Science To Headlines" is a retreat for PhD students, co-organized by fellows of the the PIER Helmholtz Graduate School and the Joachim Herz Stiftung. It will take place between February, 16 - 18th, 2017 at the Maritim Club Hotel, Timmendorfer Strand (Baltic Sea).

The main objective of the retreat is to gain experience in oral and written presentation of scientific topics to an interdisciplinary audience, in a both proficient and refreshing way.

The program will comprise several interdisciplinary training sessions led by professional coaches, as well as keynote talks given by invited speakers. Highlights of the program are a talk on "How does science enter popular media?", an improvisation theatre workshop for scientists, workshops on presentation skills, creative communication techniques, a get-together party.

Registration deadline is 20 January 2017. All PhD students with an affiliation with the PIER research areas are welcome. Non-members of the PHGS may participate upon request.
