A Graduate Education Program at DESY in Cooperation with Universität Hamburg
28-29 April 2021, online via Zoom
This year's Women's Career Day for doctoral candidates and postdocs takes place on 28-29 April 2021.
In two tailor-made workshops you are invited to develop and strengthen key skills that will be very useful for your present and future professional career, be that within academia or in business and industry. The trainers are carefully selected experts with many years of experience in teaching scientists. The workshops run parallel from 1:30 - 5:00 p.m. on 28 April and 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. on 29 April 2021 and are reserved for female researchers from the research fields of Universität Hamburg's MIN faculty, DESY and associated research centers.
Extra: Online movie screening: "Picture a Scientist"
In PICTURE A SCIENTIST a biologist, a chemist and a geologist take you on a journey through the experiences of their academic career - as women in science. They are exposed to discrimination from the very start and the film illustrates their ongoing struggle for recognition, respect and gender equality.
A struggle that many women in science, especially women of color, are still facing today. The documentary gives a hopeful outlook as it tells a story of solidarity and activism. It is a story about brave female leaders in science who stand up against injustice and manage to spark a global discourse on advancing equality in science.
