Kyoto-Hamburg Funding

Kyoto University (KU) and Universität Hamburg (UHH) have launched a funding program to support joint projects. The funding shall enable KU and UHH faculty and researchers to identify complementary strengths, facilitate the use of synergies, and promote the future development of outstanding projects. To promote the involvement of early career researchers (ECRs) in the exchange and collaboration, the universities have also released a call for ECR mobility program proposals. The submission deadline for applications is July 19, 2021: more information.

Merck Research Challenges 2021

Merck Research Grants 2021

The Merck research grants program is offering grants of 40,000 € - 450,000 € per year for up to 3 years, available in the areas of: drug discovery, real time testing and sensors, nanoparticles for nucleic acid delivery, digital innovation, bioelectronics, sustainability, media recycling for cultured meat, organoids. It is open to scientists in all career stages who are affiliated with any research-based institution, university or company. The submission deadline for applications is August 31, 2021: more information.

Hochdotierte Stipendien für US-amerikanische Spitzenuniversitäten

Note* : this tender exists only in German. Sie möchten an einer amerikanischen Spitzenhochschule Ihren Masterabschluss oder einen Forschungsaufenthalt absolvieren? Dann bewerben Sie sich auf die Programme ERP und McCloy. Mit beiden Programmen fördert die Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes Studien- und Forschungsaufenthalte an US-amerikanischen Spitzenuniversitäten. Ziel beider Programme ist es, die transatlantische Verständigung zu stärken und hochqualifizierte Nachwuchskräfte, die eine Tätigkeit im öffentlichen Sektor anstreben, zu fördern und miteinander zu vernetzen. Während das McCloy Programm Mastervorhaben an der Harvard Kennedy School fördert, unterstützt das ERP-Stipendienprogramm ein- bis zweijährige Studien- und Forschungsvorhaben an amerikanischen Spitzenuniversitäten USA-weit. Beide Programme richten sich an Absolventen aller Fächer. Neben den Lebenshaltungs- und Reisekosten können in den Programmen Studiengebühren in Höhe von mehr fast 120.000 USD (McCloy) und bis zu 50.000 USD (ERP) übernommen werden. Stipendien für Doktoranden / Fellowships for German PhD-students

Fulbright Germany fördert deutsche Nachwuchswissenschaftler*innen die ein vier- bis sechsmonatiges Forschungsprojekt an einer U.S.-Hochschule oder einer wissenschaftlichen Einrichtung durchführen, das in direktem Zusammenhang mit ihrer bereits begonnenen akademischen Dissertation steht. Die Stipendienleistungen beinhalten die Finanzierung der Lebenshaltungskosten in Höhe von 1.600 Euro/Monat, Reisekosten, eine Unkostenpauschale (300 Euro), die Kranken- und Unfallversicherung, die kostenfreie Beantragung des Fulbright J-1 Visums und die Aufnahme in das internationale Fulbright-Netzwerk. Es gibt zwei Bewerbungsfristen: Der 15. September eines Jahres für einen Aufenthaltsbeginn in den USA im April oder Mai des darauffolgenden Jahres. Der 15. COVID19 Funding

The Universität Hamburg’s Department of International Affairs introduces a new funding program “COVID19 FUNDING”: Scientists affiliated with the Universität Hamburg could apply for funding of projects connected to COVID-19, in aim to support international collaboration in research, awareness and the fight against COVID19 and its effects. Scientists and scholars of all departments are welcome to apply for funding up to 15,000 € per project.

Helmholtz Young Investigator Groups – Call 2021

The Helmholtz Young Investigator Groups offer early scientific independence to international top talents. The funding generally amounts to at least € 300,000 p.a. for five years with an option of a permanent position in case of a positive evaluation. It allows the Helmholtz Association to offer internationally outstanding postdoctoral researchers the opportunity to establish their own research groups. Up to 9 Young Investigator Groups are funded each year

The group leaders receive professional skills training by the Helmholtz Leadership Academy.
